Walk Overview:Distance: 5 km approx.Approximate walking time:1 hour 15 minutes approx.Start and finish:Laconnex Mairie
We began our walk at Laconnex Mairie (Town Hall), setting off through the heart of one of the charming rural village of Laconnex. Passing the elegant Château de Laconnex, we admired the traditional Geneva-style buildings that give the village its distinctive character. The village restaurant was bustling with activity, its terrace filled with locals enjoying a leisurely Sunday lunch.
Leaving the village behind, we followed Route du Coteau, passing horse paddocks before emerging into the surrounding vineyards, perched on a hill. The path wound its way through the vines, rewarding us with sweeping views across the countryside towards rural France and the picturesque village of Soral, our destination for the day.
On the far side of the vineyards, we paused at the Soral Sundial before descending towards the village itself. Strolling through Soral's quiet streets, we were struck by its timeless beauty and rural charm. Along the way, we passed a covered fountain with four basins dating from 1820 then took the opportunity to stop for a refreshing drink at one of the village's welcoming restaurants.
After exploring the village, we passed the Roman Catholic church and began our return journey across the surrounding farmland. Following Chemin de Mollaz, we passed open fields and gentle countryside before arriving back in Laconnex, completing a scenic loop that allowed us to discover two very attractive villages in the Geneva Canton.
