DirectionsStarting from Lancy-Pont-Rouge train station, exit the station on the right onto Route de Grand Lancy. Cross over the road on Rampe du Pont-Rouge at the traffic lights then take the immediate road on your right, Chemin des Vignes.Walk along the road until you see a wooden bridge on the left. Traverse the bridge and follow the path. Anywhere where the path divides, always stay on the path closest to the river until you come to the Pont du Gué bridge. Here, you will see a yellow walking sign indicating the direction ‘Bernex’ - continue in that direction. You will pass more bridges while walking along this path until it finally leads you out of the woodland and away from the river onto Chemin des Liserons, which then leads onto Chemin des Verjus. Continue straight on this long road until you eventually reach an intersection with Chemin des Cherpines. Here, you need to go right, staying on Chemin des Verjus, and then right again at the next intersection onto Chemin du Pont-du-Centenaire.At this point, you will also see a yellow walking sign that points in the direction of ‘Onex’. Following this by taking the little path that runs along the edge of La Gavotte animal park terrain.Cross over the bridgethat you come to and turn left onto the path that lies alongside the river. At one point, the path bears right and a trail leads off it to the left - take the trail to stay next to the river. Eventually the path joins up with the road Chemin des Marais; cross over the road. You will also see a yellow walking sign here, keeping you in the right direction.Follow the path in the direction of the sign, passing through a motorway underpass up to the junction. Traverse the concrete bridge on your right then take the path on the left to walk along the river.As you continue strolling along the path, called the Promenade de l’Aire, you will come across some water fountains as well as an information board about the promenade and surrounding area.

In 1km or so, keep left and pass under Pont de Lully, a vehicle bridge. There is also another yellow walking sign here showing the direction of ‘Perly’. Still continue straight on, passing greenhouses on your right, until you come to a large, wooden tunnel bridge on your left, the Passerelle des Bis.Traverse the bridge and follow the yellow walking sign in the direction of ‘Sèzenove’.After several metres, you will come to a divide in the path - stay left here. Shortly after, there is a trail that leads off at a 90° angle on the left down a bank. Follow this and it will take you back along the river.Continue walking until you reach another bridge. Go straight on so that the river is still on your right. Walk all the way until you reach a walking signpost indicating a left towards ‘Perly Douane’. Here, you are at the French/Swiss border, and the French town of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois lies just beyond it.Go left, and once you have, you will notice that the path starts to climb gently. Here, you have a fantastic view of the hills of Bernex - you can even see Signal de Bernex from this point.At a little intersection, you will see yellow walking signs indicating that you need to bear left onto Chemin des Vignes. You will pass some more vineyards along this road before turning right onto Chemin du Cimetière, which is the road just in front of Perly cemetery. There are also more wonderfully scenic views to be had along Chemin des Vignes - stop for a while, take it all in and enjoy!Chemin du Cimetière joins up with Route de Saint-Julien where Perly Douane (Perly Customs) is located. Go left on this road and after several metres you will see the bus stop ‘Perly-Douane’ on your right.
