Aire-la-Ville’s story reflects the shifting borders and influences that have shaped the Geneva region over centuries. Once part of the domain of the Counts of Geneva and later the House of Savoy, it passed through Bernese rule in the 16th century before coming under French control after the Treaty of Lyon in 1601.
It later became part of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, before being ceded to Geneva in 1816 and joining the Swiss Confederation.
Today, Aire-la-Ville is a peaceful rural commune where this rich past meets a relaxed, countryside lifestyle just minutes from the city.
