Puplinge was once a village-street and includes the hamlet of Cornière. It split from Presinge in 1851 due to disputes over church restoration and infrastructure.
A rural commune, Puplinge rapidly urbanized in the late 1960s with the construction of affordable housing. This led to a population boom, requiring investments in schools and infrastructure.
The Ecumenical Church of the Good Shepherd was consecrated in 1976, and the commune hosts a biannual craft fair since 1977.
