About Jussy:
Jussy, first mentioned in 1180, was part of the bishop of Geneva's possessions, with a fortress built in the 13th century.
In the 13th century, Savoy began to challenge Geneva's control, leading to struggles over the region.
In 1536, Geneva adopted the Reformation after Bernese troops intervened. Jussy was burned down to prevent its use by Savoy.
The Treaty of Turin in 1754 attached nearby hamlets to Jussy, and in 1792, it gained citizenship status with the Geneva Republic.
Jussy became part of the French department of Léman after 1798.
Jussy is listed on the Swiss Federal Inventory of Heritage Sites as a site of national importance.

CULTURAL & NATURE VISITS
Collection du Crest Presented chronologically, the collection traces the history of art in Geneva from the 18th century to the mid-20th century, primarily focusing on the lake and surrounding mountains.
Views of Lake Geneva, the most numerous, are accompanied by scenes from the Valais. The collection also includes a range of figures and nudes, still lifes, and a few historical subjects.
The museum is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 5am (except on public holidays).

Les Jardins de La GaraLa Gara, a winery in Jussy, offers guided tours of its restored garden, which are followed by a wine tasting of their wines.
Over the past 20 years, the gardens have been carefully recreated, maintaining their 18th-century dual purpose of beauty and utility. In 2000, Erik Dhont, alongside Verena Best, transformed the courtyard, park, vegetable garden, and orchard.
The estate practices permaculture, and in 2015, the 18th-century canal, the only one of its kind in Switzerland, was restored.
Reservations should be made through their site. Limited dates available from May to October. Tickets are CHF 25 each.

Château-du-CrestDestroyed in the 16th century, Agrippa d'Aubigné rebuilt the Château du Crest, adding towers, a drawbridge, and a deep moat, despite Geneva's resistance.
He invented a secret communication method to stay in contact with the city during sieges. After his death in 1630, the castle passed to the Micheli family.
Jacques-Barthélémi Micheli, a prominent figure, was exiled for criticizing Geneva's fortifications. The Micheli family has retained the estate since, managing it through the Micheli-du-Crest Foundation.
In 1880, the castle underwent renovations, preserving its original appearance.

In the 16th century, the nave was fitted with a wooden ceiling adorned with painted decorations, and the porch, with a large canopy, was rebuilt.
During the 1817 restoration, the pulpit was relocated, and the side chapels were demolished, except for one, which became the sacristy. Stained glass windows by Serge Pahnke were added in 1931, followed by those of Bodjol in 1959.

The Arales ponds were dug in 1973 in order to diversify the natural environments present in this area and to encourage the discovery of nature by visitors, particularly by young people. They also ensured the supply of water in the event of a forest fire.
In 2009-2010, the wetlands of the reserve were enlarged and diversified thanks to renaturation work.

Boundary Marker No. 141 The highest point in the canton of Geneva is located in Monniaz, where boundary marker No. 141 stands at an elevation of 517 metres, making it 7 metres taller than the Signal of Bernex.
