About Genthod:
Genthod was originally part of the Peney district and owned by the Bishop of Geneva.
It became a Protestant bastion during the Reformation, facing challenges over religion and borders, which were resolved in the 1749 by the Treaty of Paris. The commune was established in 1816 after French occupation.
Genthod developed into a residential area, with a few agricultural operations by the 21st century.
Its population grew from 228 in 1850 to 2,171 in 2000.
Genthod is listed on the Swiss Federal Inventory of Heritage Sites as a site of national importance.
