The Generali Geneva Marathon is not only one of the most scenic city marathons in Europe, but also one of the fastest in Switzerland—in 2019, half of all participants achieved a personal best!
RACES FOR EVERYONE
Now in its 20th edition, the 2026 Generali Geneva Marathon takes place on 9-10 May, welcoming thousands of runners from over 138 countries. This year, there are eight race formats:
Marathon (42km)
Relay Marathon by Core Lean (teams of 4–6)
Half-Marathon
Wheelchair Race
10km (run, walk and Nordic walk)
5km by Always
Junior Races (1–3 km for children aged 6 to 13)
Parent/Child 1km Race (for kids from 3 years old)
Runners will begin their journey in the picturesque village of Cologny, surrounded by mountain views and the sparkling shores of Lake Geneva, before crossing the finish line in the heart of the city on the Pont du Mont-Blanc, with some races finishing on Quai Gustave-Ador.
WHERE CAN SPECTATORS WATCH THE MARATHON?
Spectators play a huge role in creating a lively atmosphere, cheering on and supporting the participants—and luckily, there are plenty of great spots to watch the runners throughout the course!
In the countryside, the villages of Chêne-Bourg, Puplinge, Presinge, Meinier and Choulex are quieter, great for photos, and perfect for cheering without the crowds.
In the city, spectators can enjoy excellent views of the races from various points along both shores of Lake Geneva. Arrive early (preferably by public transport, by bike or on foot) to get a good spot and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere!
