Every spring, Geneva’s countryside comes alive with one of its most anticipated events: Caves Ouvertes (Open Wineries Day). In 2026, the 39th edition takes place on Saturday 30th May, inviting visitors to explore the canton’s vineyards, meet local winemakers, and taste their latest creations.
A unique wine experienceFor one day only, more than 70 wineries across the canton open their doors to the public. From Satigny—Switzerland’s largest wine-producing municipality—to the picturesque villages of Dardagny, Bernex, and Jussy, the event offers a rare opportunity to experience the full diversity of Geneva’s terroir.

Suggested 1-day itineraryWith so many wineries open during Caves Ouvertes, choosing where to go can feel overwhelming. Here’s a curated list of standout domaines—well-regarded, beautifully located, and ideal for a memorable tasting experience.
Morning: SatignyStart your day in Satigny, the heart of Geneva’s wine region. Visit standout estates such as Domaine des Bossons, recipient of three Medailles d'or, or Domaine des Perrières, a winery that regularly places highly in national and international competitions. If time allows, add Domaine des Trois Étoiles before moving on.
Why this area?As the largest wine-producing commune in Switzerland, Satigny offers both scale and variety, making it the perfect introduction to the region. You’ll find a wide range of producers alongside easy access between wineries. Its proximity to Geneva also makes it a convenient and efficient starting point, allowing you to experience a broad snapshot of Geneva’s wine scene in a short time.
Midday: RussinContinue to Russin, a charming village surrounded by vineyards. This is the perfect place to slow down—stop at Domaine des Molards, a winery that has been producing wines for more than 650 years. In addition to sampling wine, there are light snacks of charcuturie and cheese available. Also take some time to visit their vineyard and the Museum of Machines.
Why this area?Russin offers a more intimate contrast to the larger estates, plus the village's hillside setting above the river Rhône provides beautiful views, making it an ideal spot to pause and fully take in the atmosphere of Geneva’s wine country.
Afternoon: DardagnyIn the afternoon, head to Dardagny, one of the most picturesque wine villages in the canton. Take a break here for lunch, either at a winery or with a picnic.
Explore a few final wineries such as Domaine Les Faunes, a small family-run winery, Domaine de la Roche 1859 which has existed for more than 160 years, or Domaine Dugerdil for organic, terroir-driven selections.
Why this area?Framed by rolling vineyards, Dardagny combines natural beauty with a strong sense of heritage. Its historic architecture, compact village layout, and concentration of high-quality domaines create a more atmospheric, end-of-day experience. - CFF will enhance its services by adding extra trains on the Léman Express route between Geneva and La Plaine, although bringing bicycles on board is not recommended due to expected demand.

- Free shuttle services, in collaboration with TPG, will connect the villages of the Mandement area (Dardagny, Satigny, Russin, etc.).
- Similar transport options will also be available in the Entre Arve et Lac region (Jussy, Meinier, Anières, etc.).

- Taxiphone will offer a 10% discount on rides throughout the day, providing a convenient alternative for those seeking flexible transport.
On foot
- The distances between wineries in a single village are usually short, making a stroll between vineyards effortless.

- If you prefer cycling, the region has scenic paths connecting many of the villages, ideal for an active wine-tasting day.
